Safe School ID Safe School ID is a new jointly sponsored program by IASA and IARSS that provides district leaders with the tools and the power to fully vet and manage every vendor employee who enters a school— at no additional cost to the district. SSID conducts background checks on all vendor employees, providing your district another tool in liability and risk management. The vendor management system is also designed to streamline access control by managing vendor entries with a sophisticated system that registers, verifies, and tracks all visitors. Visit the IASA We are saying goodbye to Dr. Courtney Orzel and welcoming Dr. Dawn Bridges to our team as the new Associate Director of Professional Development on July 1. Dr. Orzel joined IASA four years ago and was the right person at the right time for IASA. I’m excited to see how Dr. Bridges can build on the successes of the last four years by offering members customized and impactful professional development that they can use to elevate student achievement in their respective school districts. In addition, IASA welcomed two new Field Services Directors to our team in Dr. Sheila Harrison-Williams and Dr. Brian Harris. Each educator comes to IASA with years of leadership experience and will be great mentors to new and early-career superintendents. Dr. Gary Zabilka, our longest serving FSD, will step into a new role where he will offer support and guidance for Transitions and Connections at IASA. Lastly, IASA will be adding Directors of Academic Empowerment in the new fiscal year to provide direct support to districts serving underrepresented population groups. We will be reaching out to districts eligible for this servicing in the coming weeks. Thank you again for your continued membership in IASA. As we close the book on FY 2024, I am proud of how our team has responded to the needs in the field and strengthened the services we provide in those core areas. Here is a closer look at the highlights from a memorable year. Vision 2030 In October, the partner associations launched Vision 2030 with the goal of creating an updated advocacy framework to propel Illinois forward in designing a system that better serves the needs of diverse learners, attracts new people to the profession, redefines student success and continues the state toward long term sustainable funding. The efforts of the Vision 2030 Workgroup resulted in the creation of a Policy Brief that is intended to challenge the State Legislature and the Governor to take action to build a brighter future for Illinois students. Once approved by the partner associations, the Policy document will be rolled out publicly at the Joint Annual Conference in November. Following that, we will ask for the help of educators across the state in building a groundswell of support aimed at sparking legislative action. Vision 2030 will be a yearslong effort that has the potential to create lasting and meaningful change in Illinois. I’m excited to see how we can build a stronger public education system in Illinois together. Compliance Plus IASA launched Compliance Plus last July to help districts save time and navigate ISBE and ROE compliance more efficiently. Thanks to our excellent facilitators, Cheryl Graff and Robert Wolfe, participants received support beyond compliance, including strategies to maximize transportation claims, utilize indirect costs and implement more streamlined procedures. We are proud to renew the pilot program for a second year. The sign-up form is posted on the IASA website.
