The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is available to support your students and families by hosting free Financial Aid Application Completion Workshops at your school. To schedule a workshop for your school, complete the Outreach Request Form, and use ISAC’s Rock the FAFSA toolkit, to reach out to your students and families. YourHelpNeededonSchool Emergency Preparedness Study

Jen Classen, grad student at Pennsylvania State University (jclassen@psu.edu), is running an anonymous survey study on school emergency preparedness. The intention of this survey is to investigate the use of emergency operation and student-family reunification plans in schools and district office buildings in the United States. This research will support improving school safety for all students. This survey is intended to be filled out by the building employee who is responsible for the building’s emergency preparedness and for it to be filled out by each campus site in a school district. At the age of 28, Heather Baker suddenly went into cardiac arrest during a morning meeting at school. Her life was saved because a school staff member had recently been trained on CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). In this IASA podcast, Baker shares her story and offers advice and tips to for how school administrators can provide training to their staff at no cost. The American Heart Association also made this video about her story.
